One of Cape Town’s most exciting producers, Pierre Johnson emerged on the scene in 2017. The track that caught our attention is the sublime three step track Fuza, a collaboration with another Cape Town producer called Simeon. Fuza is a masterpiece, a 5 minute sonic journey filled with marimba harmonies that soar and evoke feelings of joy, peace and serenity. Pierre has performed on festival stages around the world, alongside South African legends such as Black Coffee.

Pierre has another alias: Kudbeu, which focuses on a Cape Town deep house sound that is coming back in popularity. One of our favourite Kudbeu tracks is “On A Sunday.” The track features claps, clicks, snares and synths over a bouncing bassline. The low-pitched vocals echo and resonate, and the track builds to a soaring crescendo with powerful chords.
